We offer full-time college students the opportunity to work as unpaid interns while earning college credit. Our internships enable students to "roll up their sleeves" and truly learn how a professional sport franchise, public facilities, and our many various departments operate from the inside out. We expect our interns to take ownership of their internship and conduct their own research and utilize our open door policy by speaking or interviewing other members of our team in order to learn about different positions and what they entail. We encourage our interns to take an active role within the company.

We offer internships year-round and typically post our internships in July for Fall semester, November for Winter/Spring semester and April for Summer semester.

Fan Development Intern - Sharks Sports and Entertainment (San Jose, CA)

Summary
The Fan Development Intern, under the direction of the Fan Development Coordinators, assists with the day-to-day operations and implementation of various Fan Development programs and responsibilities.

Major Areas & Representative Duties
• Coordinate See The Puck promotion
• Assume a leadership role in the planning and execution of Sharks hockey-based community outreach events.
• Assist with the day-to-day operations of the FINatical Kids Club including website maintenance, registration, email blasts, & mailings–as well as execution and on-site assistance of Kids Club events
• Assist with the planning and execution of our Reading Is Cool classroom visits.
• Assist with the Sharks & Parks program, including the annual Sharks and Parks Summit and Street Hockey Tournament
• Serve as an on-ice instructor or Sharks representative at youth ice hockey visits and events.
• Help fulfill Sharks in-kind donation requests.
• Handle Fan Mail.
• Provide staffing assistance on Sharks home game nights by staffing concourse tables, fulfilling fan experiences, assisting with youth hockey intermissions, etc.

Qualifications and Experience Needed
• Reside in the Bay Area – we are unable to pay for relocation or immigration expenses
• Must be available to work 30+ hours per week including days, evenings, weekends, and events as needed depending on event schedule
• Clean DMV record and ability to pass a standard background examination
• Establish and maintain rapport within and outside of the organization
• Ability to provide hockey instruction, street or on-ice, is a plus
• Must have an upbeat outgoing attitude and outlook on work
• Previous experience working with or a desire to work with children a plus
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook

Work Experience/Education
• Currently enrolled in college, or a recent college graduate.
• References available upon request.

CRM and Email Marketing Intern - Sharks Sports and Entertainment (San Jose, CA)

Summary
The CRM & Email Marketing Intern, under the direction of the CRM Marketing Manager, will assist with Sharks marketing data assets including email marketing, CRM system management, data capture, and marketing research technologies. This position will also assist with the design, development, and distribution of company email marketing campaigns and be involved in the reporting on and analysis of key performance indicators (KPIs). The ideal candidate is a data-driven, creative, analytical thinker, who excels in applying marketing and organizational skills to a rapidly changing environment

Major Responsibilities and Representative Tasks

Email Marketing
• Assist in development and execution of email campaigns that drive revenue growth across all properties through retention, cross-selling and up-selling
• Execute email tests that support key hypotheses and deliver actionable learnings that contribute to business growth
• Prioritize emails based on revenue potential and overall corporate strategy, as well as resource allocation
• Work with marketing partners and internal department heads to ensure material delivery and consistency

Database Marketing
• Assist in the development of the fan data capture plan across multiple channels with the goal of growing the SSE database and enriching the current data profiles.
• Coordinate data collection and entry processes to ensure all prospect information is captured and actionable in CRM.
• Build customer and prospect lists for email and direct mail campaigns based on multiple segmentation criteria.
• Maintain database quality; including but not limited to all marketing subscription lists, customer records/account updates, identifying records of need, appending data to current records and running additional data hygiene processes (NCOA, Do Not Call, etc.).
• Support other departmental activities such as game night promotions and fan data collection programs.
• Track customer buying trends.

Competencies and Qualifications
1. Available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, including nights and weekends based on event schedule
2. Attention to detail and ability to work with deadlines
3. Excellent copywriting and proofreading skills
4. Educational concentration in marketing, business, communications, or related field preferred
5. Classroom or hands-on experience with digital and/or content marketing, consumer behavior, or marketing strategy preferred
6. General knowledge of the sports and entertainment industry preferred
7. Proficiency or working knowledge of Dreamweaver and/or HTML a plus
8. Able to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment and organize work according to changing priorities while maintaining a focus on department goals
9. Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to maintain quality working relationships with several internal departments, especially sales staff, as well as external agencies, media partners, community organizations, etc.

Guest Services Intern - Sharks Sports and Entertainment (San Jose, CA)

Summary
The Guest Services Intern, acting under the general direction of the Ushering and Emergency Medical Manager performs essential support duties for the Guest Services Department. The Guest Service Intern represents the Guest Services Department with guests and inter-departmentally within SAP Center at San Jose. In impetus of the Guest Service Intern is to put SAP Center at San Jose in the best possible position to create Memorable Moments for its guests. This position is primarily event based (in the evenings) with some daytime office hours and requires an availability of 15-20 hours per week.

Major Responsibilities and Representative Tasks
Event Coordination

• Assist in the creation and distribution of Fact Sheets and event concessions maps to appropriate managers and event staff.
• Assist in the creation of Ushering Supervisor Notes and Event Notes.
• Attend the Event Security Meeting with the promoter and tour security representative.
• Prior to an event, assist in ensuring the arena is adequately set for the event by walking all levels of the arena prior to doors opening for the event. Ensure all necessary signage and credentials are in place, potential safety hazards are identified and resolved, and coordinate with other building departments to honor requests that are made for other supplies (ex: sign holders for promotion tables on the Concourse).
• Supply and prepare the information desks prior to each event.
• Coordinate Wheel Chair Accessible accommodations for guests.
• Coordinate special accommodations for guests designated by the Guest Service Department.
• Assist as necessary during events, such as scanning tickets, distributing Will Call tickets, escorting guests, etc.
• Assist as necessary with the coordination of VIP Parties hosted by the promoter during events.
• Assist as necessary with the coordination and support of guest relocations during events.
• During and Post-Event, respond to and resolve guest inquiries and/or complaints in conjunction with the Ushering and Emergency Medical Manager.
• Coordinate the usage of the ISS 24/7 product suite including the texting system and incident management system. Distribute post-event summary report to appropriate event managers.
• Make and document event-based observations of the Guest Services Departments to the Director of Guest Service.
• Post-event distribute to appropriate managers the Guest Observation and Ticket Drop reports.
• Other tasks and duties as assigned by the Ushering & Emergency Medical Manager and Director of Guest Service.

Essential Functions
1. Must be available to work a flexible, event-based schedule.
